List of the Major Activities to be performed during Project Phase
Once the project is conceived following are the typical activities which are to be performed for setting up the plant, these activities are very important and shall be performed for the completion of the project. Project Engineer should manage all these activities.
1. Topography survey, hydrological and soil investigation to be performed by other agencies.
2. Project planning.
3. Preparation of BDEP (Basic Engineering Design Package).
4. Release of Plot plan and Equipment layout.
5. Tendering for Civil and Structural Works, Electrical and Instrumentation, Mechanical Works, etc (HSE Plan shall be the
part of   the tender).
6. List of Equipment’s to be purchased.
7. Preparation of Piping, Electrical and Instrumentation MTO. (Material take-off).
8. Enquiry Flotation and Receipt of Offer.
9. Techno-commercial Bid Preparation / Releasing of P.O (Purchase Order).
10. Safety training to all before the commencing of site activities.
11. Start of Civil and Structural Work, Electrical and Instrumentation, Mechanical Works, etc
12. Approval of QAPs (Quality assurance plan).
13. Inspection of all or Critical items by Third Party Agencies.
14. Expediting delivery of Equipment at site.
15. Approval of Drawings and Documents.
16. Preparation of Monthly Progress Report by Planning Department.
17. Co-ordination with all the departments, vendor, consultant for timely completion of Project.
18. Project Monitoring wrt to Project Schedule.
19. Resolving Site related Queries.
20. Provision of crash purchase during shortages i.e purchase of items which may not accounted during project or purchases for
OEM (Original equipment manufacturer) of the material damages during site activities/transportation.
21. Mechanical completion, Pre-commissioning.
22. Commissioning and plant handover.
